- Periode01.03.12 - 11.04.12
- StedGalleri Schaeffers Gate 5, Oslo
"I work intuitively, looking for where the light falls away, waiting for moments of spontaneity. I know that the process is not exclusively mine and mine alone, but that I am an observer entering into the combined dialogue of elements generated between the subject and my own thinking and evolution."
NB!
Velkommen!

VIDERE INFORMASJON:
"In the days of film SLRs part of the final test at journalism college was to do six assignments on one roll of thirty-six. Another harder test was to have thirty seconds to study a photograph of a random person, and then spend the maximum of an hour from a fixed vantage point in a busy shopping street attempting to spot and photograph sharply the person you had seen in the photograph you were shown earlier. I believe these tests have merit and greater significance to how my photography has continued to develop over time. Apart from improving the technical and economic aspects of the photographer these tests force the photographer to make shrewd judgments.
By keeping these factors prescient and with perseverance and a dash of lady luck, eventually other intuitive and playful layers should develop in the photographer. For example, deciding where to stand before a subject, whether or when to move, whether to change lens, whether to stand back, look and listen, or to just momentarily switch away from what you were focusing on, as was the case in the photograph called Cigarette Boy, which was actually taken during a fashion shoot. All the photographs I have selected for exhibition here were in a sense snatched as the press industry slang
term implies, and have their foundations built upon those early tests as a photographer. However, unlike the test taken in a busy shopping street, I had no idea what the location or subject of these photographs was going to be.
And so I suppose the not knowing what is round the corner is the magic of
photography."
