Amstelveen, The Netherlands, 4 April 2008:
Celebrity photographer Rankin – whose subjects have included Tony Blair, Kate Moss and Kylie Minogue – has tested the Canon EOS-1Ds Mark III in an exclusive UEFA EURO 2008™ shoot for Canon. The resulting photographs, which celebrate football’s ‘tiny moments and the emotive quality of these moments’, will form part of Canon’s sponsorship and advertising campaign for UEFA EURO 2008™, which takes place in Austria and Switzerland from 7-29 June.
The Canon EOS-1Ds Mark III is the first Canon D-SLR to offer resolution capable of producing large-size high quality prints for exhibition. Producing files greater than 100MB in size (uncompressed 16-bit TIFF), it sets the standard for D-SLR studio photography. With the ability to capture images at 5fps, for up to 56 Large JPEGs (12 RAW), the camera also offers fashion photographers a new level of versatility and performance during location shoots.
“You can’t get a better D-SLR camera than a Canon," Rankin commented. “What you’re hoping for with any new Canon camera is that it will be even better than the one before – and the EOS-1Ds Mark III has achieved that: the resolution is higher; the operation is much simpler."
Rankin is one the greatest creative photographers of his generation and we were delighted to see him test the Canon EOS-1Ds Mark III – the camera that sets the benchmark for D-SLR studio photography, said Mogens Jensen, Head of Canon Consumer Imaging, Europe.
''Over more than 20 years Canon has modelled the EOS system on the needs of professional photographers: through working closely with photographers of Rankin’s calibre, we will continue to provide world-leading levels of innovation."
Rankin concludes: “I can definitely say that I will use the EOS-1Ds Mark III – there’s just an efficiency to it that you can’t ignore."
